Vinnie Kinsella, of Indigo Editing and Publications, met with me a couple of days ago to review the book-production schedule. He plans to begin page design at the end of this month, and he’s designing the cover now. Those of you who follow this blog will be among the first to see the cover when he’s done; it will appear in the masthead of this website.
While Vinnie and I were discussing the latest chapter and its sentence diagram, he mentioned a book I had never heard of, Sister Bernadette’s Barking Dog: The Quirky History and Lost Art of Diagramming Sentences by Kitty Burns Florey. The next day a friend serendipitously sent me a link to Florey’s just-published article in the New York Times online Draft series, a piece called, “Taming Sentences.” What a discovery! I’m an instant fan of Kitty Burns Florey. To anyone reading this post, I bet you’ll enjoy reading her too.
